Manual of Maklada in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA). It tells you which records we hold and how to request access to them.

2. The Information Regulator's guide
The Information Regulator publishes a guide on how to use PAIA (section 10). It's available from inforegulator.org.za, or from the Information Regulator, JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

4. Records kept in terms of legislation
Where applicable: Companies Act 71 of 2008, Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, Value-Added Tax Act 89 of 1991, Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011, Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
5. Subjects and categories of records
- Company records: registration documents, statutory records.
- Financial records: invoices, payments, tax records.
- Client records: requests, briefs, quotes, project files and handover documents.
- Supplier and operator records: agreements with hosting, email and AI providers.
- Website records: the website's code and content.
6. Processing of personal information (POPIA)
- Purpose: replying to requests, preparing previews and quotes, building and handing over websites, invoicing, and meeting legal duties.
- Data subjects: prospective clients, clients and their staff, suppliers.
- Information: names, contact details, business details, website addresses, briefs and content clients supply, payment records.
- Recipients: the operators listed in the privacy notice, and authorities where the law requires.
- Cross-border transfers: hosting, email and AI providers may process information outside South Africa under adequate safeguards (POPIA section 72).
- Security: HTTPS only, access limited to Maklada, rate-limited forms, providers bound by data-protection terms.
7. How to request access
Send the prescribed form (Form 2 under the PAIA Regulations, available from inforegulator.org.za) to the information officer at info@maklada.co.za. Give enough detail to identify the record and say how you want access. The prescribed fees may apply. We'll answer within 30 days, as PAIA requires. If we refuse, we'll give reasons, and you may complain to the Information Regulator or apply to court.
